![]() ![]() The X-Files BD box (cult TV show from the '90s that somehow never got a BD release, a bit like Eva) containing 202 episode and tons of extras was recently released for $299.99. Translated extras can inflate the price by a lot, those are highly valuable for the fans, so for that $199.99 -$249.99 would be reasonable. I can understand an increase of €5-€10 because of the two extra cuts and because of higher profits margin, so the final range is €84.99 - €89.99.Īssuming no extras at all and excluding taxes that here are already included it should definitely be sold for $99.99 maximum. As a single package it would probably be sold for €64.99 for everything the poll asked except two cuts of D&R.Ĭonsidering a 20% increase in price for the DVD - BD difference (usually single BD movies goes for sale for €19.99, DVD movies at €14.99) and some rounding up we arrive to €79.99. Official prices are €49.99 for the Platinum set (it obviously contains both the original episodes and the Director's Cut), and The Feature Film (just one of the three cuts of Death and Rebirth and The End of Evangelion) is €14.99. Here were I live the Platinum set DVD is still printed, and The Feature Film DVD was published too. I'm not in a english speaking country, so I'm not the target and I didn't answer the poll, but I'll post my opinion anyway. Why the poll? Is it a question from a publisher? In my estimation, Studio khara has badly fumbled how it handles NGE abroad, and has virtually destroyed the market for legit copies, so you need to expand into general markets by reducing the price. Except most of the fans have already gotten a copy of it through the piracy that artificial scarcity has trained into them. Or you can create something price prohibitive that only fans will want to buy. You can either price the whole thing in the 'impulse buy' territory - Something a grandmother might buy randomly at Best Buy. ![]() So the market is not "people that want to see/own NGE" but "people that want a copy of NGE that is better than DVD, and haven't already pirated it because it isn't available in their market and absurdly priced in other markets." If you want a copy of NGE, you probably already have one. The market for DVD-quality copies of the original series is (1) completely saturated by people buying legit copies aftermarket or (2) is actively training people to pirate through scarcity. First one being that everyone that wants NGE already has a copy. I dunno man, there are a lot of other factors at work here.
